BIOGRAPHY.

Alana Porter is a 20 year old singer/songwriter from Melbourne, Victoria and has been singing since from the moment she could speak. Alana has been writing songs since she was very young.

Alana’s first live performance was at the age of 13, where she sang at a talent quest in a local shopping centre, in which she came third in the competition, where she was competing against other artists of who were much older than herself. By the age of 14, Alana began to explore a wider range of genres including Punk Rock and a more Alternative style of music. Alana continued writing Pop style songs until the age of about 18 where she began to branch off into her own acoustic style of music, and had begun to write songs which consisted of much more depth than ever before, with relation to personal experiences in her life, as well as emotions and situations of those around her.

Across 2011, Alana spent a lot of her time alongside family friend and producer Michael Wheeler and her father Alan Porter, writing and recording her first album titled "My Safe Place" which she has just completed. The 12 track album will be released January 2012.
In November 2011, Alana participated as an original artist in the music event Pie Jam, hosted by Pie Face, Nova and Inpress Magazine. She performed two 40 minute sets in Melbourne, accompanied by musician and friend Paula Alvarez on guitar.

By gaining the highest amount of online votes, Alana was announced a winner of the Pie Jam prize, consisting of recording time with ARIA winning producer Kalju Tonuma and a feature article in Inpress Magazine. Pie Jam has been a great opportunity for Alana's experience and exposure in the music industry.

Music is a huge part of Alana’s life. The last 20 years have been a journey, in which every part has been surrounded by music. She was greatly influenced by her father who is also a musician.

Artists who influence Alana, include names such as, Angus and Julia Stone, Missy Higgins, Florence and the Machine, Adele and Ellie Goulding.

At the moment, Alana is currently writing her first EP alongside Paula Alvarez, the duo is currently taking part in the Melbourne Fresh competition at Revolver in Melbourne, after making it through the heat and semi final they will be returning to the stage for a huge grand final on July 3rd.

As an unsigned artist, Alana requires all the support she can get in order to fulfil her dream.
Her upcoming album "My Safe Place" consists of 12 original tracks, which will be sold, with all funds raised towards future music opportunities. It will be available to purchase online later in 2012.
