Interview: 14 May 2012
Tell us about your music. How did you find each other and develop your sound?
C1: Our music is just us having fun and not taking things too seriously. The sound I was going for was something summery and light but still had a depth to it. It's an E.P. that you can just play on a road trip or listen to on the train or skating with your mates. Allday's writing is really catchy so it really worked with my production.

Allday: C1 messaged me on Facebook and I heard his beats. He sent me a bunch of them and I wrote the whole E.P in one or two days. I just stayed up all night because I was so excited. Once we got in the studio we had a musical chemistry straight away. I had all these ideas that I wasn't able to express properly until I met C1, so I'm stoked with the collaboration.

How does an Allday x C1 live show work out?
Allday: C1 spins the tunes and I rap. I also dance awkwardly. I can rap like a black guy but my dancing is very, very white. We have a bunch of shows planned including an E.P launch in at least 2 capital cities.

Tell us about the bands, producers and people in the Melbourne & Adelaide music communities who inspire you?
C1: Styalz Fuego, the producer behind 360's Flying & Falling is ridiculous. I'm also a fan of M-Phazes. They are the benchmark.

Allday: I really like Snakadaktal. I've been meaning to go see them live.

What’s the best advice you’ve been given and who was it from?
C1: I recently quit my corporate job and didn't know what I wanted to do. My old man told me that I should give music a good crack and not to live with any regrets.

Allday: I watched a Will Smith video on YouTube and he explained the difference between skill and talent. A skill is something you work to achieve. I'm trying to make the most of my talent by working really hard. Also my girlfriend told me not to wet my hair in the shower unless I'm washing it, since I stopped doing that my hair has looked a lot better.

What’s coming up for you guys in 2012?
C1: We'll be working on a lot more music! At the moment we're collaborating on a mixtape with a few Melbourne artists that will be released in a few weeks. I'm also currently working on production for BAM BAM.

Allday: A lot of shows, some new video clips, hopefully an album by the end of the year. I'm so proud of the E.P, but I want to put out an album that is as good as anything in the world, that's my goal.

Australian music is…?
C1: Under-rated.

Allday: Barnesy and/or Farnsy.
