"Music should be an experience. It should be something that goes into your ears and through your whole body. On stage - we let the music take over us, and as a result, our bodies react. We don't apologize for this reaction, but encourage the audience to do the same. But when the music is rocking - we don't have to do much to prompt it. For us, every performance is a massive party - and music is the drug no-one can help sniff," - Jonathon Holmes

In mid-2005, Jonathon Holmes, David O'Reilly, Mitchell Ryan and Martin Zazvonil performed a Beatles tribute concert at their school - Northmead High. It was this performance that inspired the boys. Combining the name of their school and their Beatles rip-off photo of the famous Abbey Road cover, they found their name. 'Northwalk' have been performing and making music ever since.

Northwalk strive to entertain, with the four gaining a wealth of experience performing regularly to large audiences very early in their career. They have been quoted on their "high energy" on stage and they know how to get an audience clapping and singing along. They have played in venues right around Sydney including Sydney Town Hall, The Metro Theatre and Parramatta Riverside Theatre. Their large repertoire of covers although more than familiar to audiences, have the Northwalk seal-of-approval, making every song their own. But it's their original songs that always make heads turn.

As you would expect from a Beatles tribute band, the four shared a common love for good old-fashioned rock - including The Beatles, Queen, The Doors and Midnight Oil, which heavily influenced their style. Beginning with Holmes, Northwalk began to write and perform original songs, and Zazvonil soon joined him. Although the bulk of the songs are written individually at first, the band loved to experiment with each other's ideas - changing all the songs dramatically, thus all their songs being credited to the whole band.

Starting with very rough, home recordings, their songs were soon well known in the community, some songs being regularly chorused in the school playground and on buses. The band eventually released their first CD of these recordings entitled "SELFtitled" in September 2007, which immediately received regular local radio airplay.

Last year, Northwalk's 'Routine Blues' has been as far up as #25 on the Triple J Unearthed Charts, with 'The Lights' at #30 and 'Don't Fight It' at #39. They recently launched their first studio CD 'The Lights', continuing to be featured on local radio and are now gigging around Sydney.

The band has had a few line-up changes over the years, but their passion for music and entertaining audiences everywhere they can, will keep the band going strong for years and years to come.
