Drifting somewhere between Nick Drake & Sigur Ros, Owls of the Swamp is the unique music project of 25 year old Melbourne singer-songwriter Peter Uhlenbruch (and also the translation of his German Surname). Owls of the Swamp combines distinct mellow vocals with haunting melodies and lush instrumentation to create an enchanting style of 'swamp-folk'. Just recently, he has released his debut album 'Smoky Bay', a conceptual record about his experiences living in Iceland in 2006 and the transition from midnight to dawn. The album begins in the depths of the dark night of the soul before reflecting upon personal encounters with past life lovers, devil graves, shamans, blizzards and arctic waterfalls and finishes with the first breath of a new dawn. In June 2008, Owls of the Swamp returns to Iceland to promote the album and tour nationally with Svavar Knutur which will cover 18 cities and over 21 performances in just under a month.
