Blastcorp is Kris Keogh. A skinny, white boy from Arnhem Land, NT making music that's half electronic, half acoustic and is often soppy and about cute girls.
He plays guitar, reaktor and sings.
Was tempoarily flavour of the week on Triple J.
Has played around australia whenever since 2001, supporting the likes of Diplo, The Mad Professor, Francisco Lopez, The Herd, Regurgitator, Dsico, TZU and heaps of bands you've never heard of.
Latest album 'Chrysanthemum' is out now on limited edition vinyl picturediscs.
In his spare time he runs Darwin's only decent venue, Happy Yess, and beats people up cause he's a licenced crowd controller.
You can buy his albums direct from him thru blastcorp.com.
Avoid the music industry wherever possible.
His releases as blastcorp go something like this:
ALBUMS:
1999 - blip - handmade floppy disk/CD
2000 - shelfstacking - CD
2001 - ilura - CD
2004 - the covers album - CD
2006 - chrysanthemum - vinyl picturedisc
EPS:
2002 - EP - CD
2003 - Nightsky - CD
2005 - Covers EP - CD
history:
kris grew up in nhulunbuy, arnhem land, NT. he had to make his own fun. a combination of playing cute, fruit collecting computer games, guitar and doing jumps on his BMX was established, after refusing to wear those little shorts to play footy. listened to a lot of thrash metal and public enemy. he still thinks kreator rule.
moved to darwin, did a degree in classical music, played offensive loud guitar a lot, bought a sampler, started djing, started recording. listened to a lot of music, mainly noisy or electronic, preferably both.
had girl troubles and started writing plain old acoustic songs with singing and guitar.
stuck everything together to make singalong songs with glitchy electronics and guitars.
not sure what will happen next.
kris is currently also in bands called red plum and snow, moke, and horse trank.
