Brisbane's Nikko have been busy with supports for ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead and Boris, but not too busy to ready their follow-up to 2010 debut The Warm Side.

Gold & Red is an album characterised as much by its melodic grace as by its pervasive sense of doom. Recorded in the cavernous orchestral hall of Brisbane's historic Old Museum with Cameron Smith (Velociraptor, No Anchor), mixed by Aaron Cupples (The Drones, Paul & Dan Kelly, SNOWMAN) and mastered by Nao Anzai (Laura, Because Of Ghosts, These Hands), the album demonstrates a stylistic change in direction that showcases front-man Ryan Potter’s skills as a songwriter and lyricist, along with the band’s collective ability to craft these skills into distinctive and compelling arrangements.

Moving beyond the ill-fitting ‘post-rock’ labels of the past, Gold & Red sees Nikko draw influence from classic forms of songwriting such as blues and country, augmenting these influences to enhance their unique musical template.

The album will be available as a deluxe gatefold double LP featuring gold and red coloured vinyl (includes digital download), a CD digipak and a stand-alone digital download from nikkoband.com and tenzenmen.com, and will be distributed nationally via Music-Fix/MGM.
