CiCiLeu Bio
Formed in the early part of June 2007 out of a spontaneous and free flowing jam session, CiCiLeu have found a groove which is a mixture of various flavours including Rock and free form African jazz.
CiCiLeu’s Line up includes Will on Guitar, Bass, Percussion and Vox, Matt on keys and Vox and Scott on drums and percussion.
Will and Scott met at TAFE in their music industry and technical production based course and began jamming in and between classes on what ever they could find, guitars, conga’s, tables…anything. After discovering a musical harmony and a common creative goal they began jamming with one of Will’s bass player mates, Louis. The three jammed together for a while and came up with several ideas and the song Acid from the South, which at the time was called CiCiLeu. And when the day came to record Acid from the South at the TAFE recording studio the three first met Matt. Phil Sewyers, a Fellow class mate and mentor to Scott and Will, told the boys he knew of a kick ass keyboard player who might be able to put something to their track. As Scott, will and Louis were putting the final touches on Acid from the South matt came in to lay down some keys. The boys were so amazed by Matt’s ability to put his improvised keys to their track in two takes that they had to ask him to jam with them. He did and that’s where it started.
After a short while the square became a triangle as Louis left the band and the others continued on as a trio. It took a little while to find a groove again without a bass player but the boys kept the pace aiming to record a demo and begin playing gigs in early August.
The band has many different influences and each member brings something unique to the table. A few of Will’s influences include weather report, Miles Davis, The Mahavishnu Orchestra, Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea the Police.
Some of Matts influences include Directions in Groove, The Cat Empire, Herbie Hancock, Harry Connick Jr and Keith Jarrett.
Scott’s influences also include Miles Davis, Mahavishnu Orchestra, TOOL, the Mars Volta, Aphex Twin, and Mike Patton.
We tend to write songs in an expressive free jam situation, based on riffs, ideas or just playing which we record and then listen back to for whatever potentially song worthy ideas or concepts might have been explored. We usually start with a basic Structure and then develop the songs from their, letting them take their own course and enhancing them as they go.

My fave of yours so far, lovely funky groove leads well into the crunchy deep guitar bit. Satisfying.
