Originally from Seattle, acoustic/surf roots chanteuse, Kym Campbell sounds like she’s been recording music for most of her life. After picking up the guitar back in the states some seven years ago, it wasn’t until she moved to Australia, that Campbell produced her acclaimed, debut EP So Alive, and thankfully, there was no going back. Often described as an infusion of roots, folk, reggae and island music with an understated, organic sound, Campbell’s style draws comparisons to artists such as Jack Johnson, The Waifs, Tristan Prettyman and Xavier Rudd.

Kym Campbell’s influences span an array of genres and her music reflects a lifestyle of travel, sun, ocean and song. With a vocal style so distinctive and incomparable to any other artist, Campbell’s delivery appears effortless. In 2008 she was a finalist for the Top 10 Music Oz Awards for Best Singer / Songwriter as well as being nominated as one of the ‘Judges Highly Commended Artists’ for three tracks off her debut EP. Kym has also seen her recently released EP being chosen as the featured soundtrack for Australian Longboarding Magazine's 'DVD Project X' and her track ‘Back To You’ being chosen for ‘SoundsLikeCafe’s August 2008 compilation CD. With numerous community radio stations around Australia embracing her newly released independent EP and voted top 30 New Artists To Radio, as well as consistently staying in the Top 30 Australian Myspace artists for the genres of both roots and surf and the Top 10 acoustic artists on MP3.com.au, songstress Kym Campbell, has built herself an impressive fan base.

Her debut offering, So Alive incorporates elements of laidback guitar, harmonica and sweet ukulele riffs, all bundled in a generous eight track EP. Campbell’s gift for song writing is highlighted on tracks such as ‘Free Flowing’, ‘Rolls That Way’ and ‘Back To You’, revealing stories of love lost and gained, as well as an honest celebration of life’s unpredictable twists and turns. Described as ‘spirited and touching’ music, Campbell’s natural ability to connect with audiences sees her winning hearts all across the country.
