This folk infused rock ensemble have been quietly developing an electric body of works over the past 5 years. Their presence is resonating around Melbourne as they seep their rich sound around live venues, exposing tracks from their forthcoming EP.

Guesswork features lead vocalist Juvita Pingiaro. Their songs cascade through this petite lady rocker’s husky, textured vocals whose barefoot performances are made memorable through an endearing stage presence with intense, emotive delivery. Complementing every breath is guitarist and co-writer Joel Wheeler, whose refined guitar work is portrayed through sharp, melodic riffs. Juvita and Joel’s musical chemistry is patently obvious.

Juvita and Joel met on the Mornington Peninsula in Autumn 2005 and, on the strong bond of their linked musical passion, soon after formed folk, pop trio ‘Good Fight’ with cellist Cassie Wallis. Their music quickly received extensive local press and attention on the strength of their 2007 debut album ‘I Never Want It To End’. The launch at the sadly missed Peninsula Lounge with support from Red Ink was rapturously received. In 2008 Luke Mears on drums joined the mix supplying a tailored sound for an already extensive collection of eclectic tracks. Here, developing as a side project, Guesswork was born. They continued performing throughout the Peninsula and beyond, earning a strong and loyal following. Peter Jones on bass later joined Guesswork bringing a solid bottom end, completing these 3 gentlemen’s fifteen year prior high school band line up.

Along the way they have supported high profile acts such as Thirsty Merc and the likes of Diesel and Deborah Conway at one of their highlight performances ‘Between The Bays’ in 2009. Amongst other great acts they performed at Jordan Jives 2009, donating a song for the Jordan Jives compilation CD. This haunting track, ‘Sinking Sands’, is already being featured by Joy FM radio around Melbourne and will be included on the upcoming EP,
The song reveals Juvita’s viewing of her mother’s battle with breast cancer over the last eighteen months whose passing resulted in a short hiatus and a new direction for this band. Overall this self titled EP replays a journey of growth and realisation doused in the bitter sweet pains that awareness evokes. Their purpose is to give Melbourne and beyond a taste of what’s to come as they continue to work towards their debut album ‘What Binds Us’.

At present Guesswork are focusing their time and attention on their upcoming release and look forward to presenting these works live again in the very near future.
