Mitchell Berk is a composer, producer, guitarist and drummer now based in Melbourne. He has been composing music using computer programs for 3 and a half years and draws inspiration from various musical genres including down tempo, post rock, progressive electronica, soundtrack, shoegaze, soundscape, world and psychedelic rock. With an emphasis on originality, Mitch's music does not seem to fit into any particular genre, reflecting a diverse and versatile interest in many areas of music, both past and present.
Mitch has completed two albums this year called ‘2010’ and ‘Post. He is currently working on a live set and is promoting his music on community radio programs, in short films and various websites. Mitch would like to spread his music to a wider audience and to continue to musically develop and grow. “Rare to find such depth as is here in these multi-coloured soundscapes. While completing a double diploma in music, Mitch gained critical listening, performing, recording and mixing skills which is now incorporated into his music. He composed in a duet called ‘Calidris’ and has also gained recognition on the Triple J Unearthed website. “Loved it. Simple chord progression kept interesting. Mitch has composed seven outstanding albums and has a strong passion to continue writing music and exploring the world of sound. His music has been used in two short films for the film festival, ‘Lights! Canberra! Action! 2009 and 2010. In March 2010 he was announced the Winner of the Best Original Soundtrack for the film ‘Reverse Graffiti’. Mitch also composed an album for the Fashion Show, ‘Notions’, which he performed live at the Australian National Museum in Canberra. He plans to have his music used in this particular nature.
Mitch wants his music heard and enjoyed on a larger scale and hopes to move into performing to live audiences. He plans to continue to create, express himself musically and inspire.
