Seychellois islander Grace Barbe is the real deal, a rising star of World Music in the mold of Angelique Kidjo and Miriam Makeba. Grace's music reflects and celebrates the diverse and exotic cultural influences of her Indian Ocean heritage (African, Indian, Asian, European), while modern reggae, pop and soul have also made a mark on her sound.
Following the release of her debut album "Kreol Daughter" in 2009, Grace has performed at many of Australia's leading music festivals, including Byron Bay Bluesfest and Woodford Folk Festival. Internationally, Grace has performed at the Sakifo Festival in La Reunion, Reggae Donnsa in Mauritius and Le Carnivale International de Victoria in her native Seychelles. Grace and her band "Afro-Kreol"(which now includes her younger sister, Joelle Barbe on drums) have been awarded "Best World Act" three years running in her home state of Western Australia.
Grace lights up the stage with an energetic and engaging presence. A talented singer/songwriter, Grace is at home on both guitar and bass whilst singing in three langauges; English, Kreol and French.
