The Laurels are a four-piece from Sydney who create luscious, complex and dangerous psychedelic shoegaze bliss.

Their influences extend from sonic pioneers The Velvet Underground through to the inner city filth of Australian legends The Saints and the trance-like psychedelia of Spacemen 3, all the way back to the lush pop harmonies of The Beatles.

They have shared stages and tours with the likes of The Black Angels, Wooden Shjips, Dead Meadow, Swervedriver, Low, Tame Impala and A Place To Bury Strangers to name but a few.

In 2009, The Laurels put out their first release, a 7” pressing of their single Wandering Star, which sold out in next to no time. They wowed audiences and blew minds with their live show over the next few years and released their debut EP Mesozoic to widespread acclaim in July 2011.

Their debut album will be released in 2012.

Damn this is excellent. Big, driving fuzz rock that's never too brutish but still bristles with intensity. Bring on the album!

Who cares if My Bloody Valentine can't write a follow-up to Loveless, The Laurels can be the torchbearers of shoegaze.
