Oblivious is a traditional three piece band with a guitarist, bassist and drummer. What the band lacks in numbers they more than make up with hard hitting riffs and passionate lyrics.

The Story, so far...

The story of this inspirational new band is one that brings back many fond memories to its members and friends.

It was May of 2005 and, as it happens, three young lads found themselves working at Rydges Capricorn Resort at the same time.

At a work colleagues party one night, Betcha and Farnz found themselves mucking around with an acoustic guitar, trying to out-play each other. After a few more alcoholic beverages, it was suggested by Betcha that they should have a get-to-gether out at the shed where Pauls drums were situated. Farnz agreedand thats what they didbut the sound was missing something...possibly a bassist.

After the jam at the shed, Betcha and Farnz went to have a quiet drink at the Rocks Bar at the Resort. They shared their days experience with the Barman a Mr. Ryan Slick Holgate. We soon learnt that Slick was more than just an ugly Barman, he was an ugly bassist and from that moment, Oblivious was born!.

The three members started to muck around one day in the tin shed of which housed Betchas drum set. Even though the shed was located on a large property in the middle of nowhere, it didnt help the noise coming from that shed...Shit it was awful!.

After the jam there was some skepticism about the future of the three musicians. They were all so rusty being that they hadnt dusted off the axes and the sticks in some while.

After a few more practices though, the instruments began coming together and Oblivious gained character and their own sound.

After a few months the band had written a number of songs and began playing shows in Rockhampton pubs and in Yeppoons' nightclub using originals and various covers.

At the present Oblivious have sixteen originals with a few that have been worked on over the past couple of weeks. Oblivious practices a few times per week and thoroughly enjoy playing as a band.

To date, Oblivious has accomplished more than the members could have ever hoped for. The band has played at a number of live shows including 21st birthday parties, as well as pubs in Rockhampton including the Post Offices local band night and Paddys Irish Pub, and more recent at an Original night at O'Dowds Irish Pub in Rockhampton.

Furthermore, Oblivious has had experience playing larger concerts as well. Oblivious were asked to play for the Rydges Capricorn Resort Staff Party in front of a 450 strong crowd. They were also invited to play at Rydges for the 1000+ party goers the night of New Years Eve celebrations 2005.

The band also organized a party at The Coast Niteclub in Yeppoon as a way to showcase their talent and gain exposureas well as the opportunity to have a couple of drinks while doing it. It was a good night with around 150 people venturing out on a Wednesday night to hear a band of which they new little about..

Since then Oblivious have made a commitment to their songs and pass on all covers. Oblivious have now recorded 8 of their 16 songs, and still their songwriting is in full swing. Their sound is considered by the members to be unique and unlike anything they have heard......................
