Unearthed Artists We Like: grumpy neighbour

So... you want to know about us, well here's the dirt you desire.

We're a four piece combobulation, made from local and imported ingredients.

The main ingredients (in no particular order) are:

Tracey. Vocalist extrordinaire. If it can be sung, Tracey can sing it, and sing it well.

Dave C. Drums, vocals and anything else that needs doing. He writes and sings most of the songs, records everything religiously, and generally pretends to know it all. He's originally from inner city Sydney, where he'd been lurking around in the shadows of backstages across the city, masquerading as an audio engineer. He also spent nearly 2 years travelling with a circus, as a drummer, despite this, he still can't juggle.

Mike: Bass, Vocals and random guitaring. He's the only genuine Tasmanian in the band, Mikes been playing guitar and bass since last millenium, and has a remarkable ability to come up with catchy riffs, as well as being a bloody good singer and songwriter. His favorite drink is beer, and he likes to tell the time.

Dave S , Guitar tickler, and occasional bassist. Is imported from Guildford England, like all smart Englishmen, he moved to Australia, where he has a shack near the beach allowing him to surf in cold southern waters with great white sharks. We expect to find him eaten by one of them any day now.
......................................................................................................................................................

We formed around mid 2008, after a jam session at Mikes house, The jam was fun, so we decided to get rich and famous by starting a band. We wrote a bunch of words on bits of paper, scrunched them into little balls, then drew them out of a hat to come up with the name, random monkey society.

We can't decide what genre to conform to, so the music tends to be of a random nature usually. The most common method of songwriting for us, is to start playing something, and hope it turns itself into a tune, then we select lyrics from our lyric book, or write some new ones, and then try to join them together as best we can. The reults are sometimes good, other times, not so good, luckily we have our own studio, so we leave it for a while, let the dust settle and the memory fade a little, before listening back and deciding what to work on some more.

Whilst we generally strive for a certain level of production, sometimes there is no substitute for the 'Vibe' of a live, improvised jam. It is honest and human, something which can easily be lost in the studio.
We've now ventured into the world of music videos, so stay tuned for more visual stimuli, Random Monkey Style!
That's pretty much the band summed up for you.
