Val Gray has been a fixture on the Sydney scene for years, even if you don't know him! Emerging from the late 80s/early 90s Balmain band scene alongside the likes of Alex Lloyd and Psyclone Smyle with his band Walk the Fire, he then played in Stoneyard, who were featured in an early "Live at the Wireless" on the JJJs. A song from those sessions, "Awake" was played in high rotation for months and was one of Helen and Mikey's favs! He then collaborated with industry leg Iva Davies on a recording of 2 songs, "Shine" and "Over the Edge".
These days he is writing more than ever, gigging regularly and still can't work out why he likes (and writes) really rocking stuff and really mellow acoustic stuff and hates everything in between...(although that's not really true)...
