Sincerely, Grizzly
Genre: Rock
Region: Adelaide Foothills, SA
Members: Rowan Mount / Griffin Farley / Joshua Calligeros
Sounds Like: ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, Biffy Clyro, Brand New
Influences: Present, Future, past

In a chance encounter at an Anthropophobiacs Anonymous meeting in South-West North Korea, Joshua Calligeros, Griffin Farley and Rowan Mount met for the first time. It is said that here they discovered their mutual appreciation of the masterpiece A Very Gregorian Christmas and hence decided to start a joint musical venture (however this is fiercely debated by the South Korean Immigration Dept.). Donning themselves the moniker Sincerely, Grizzly in honour of a young brown bear who took his own life amongst the political unrest of the Arab Spring, they relocated to Adelaide to play a brand of what can only be described as literature rock.

In three years together, the band have embraced the opportunities presented to them and have been rewarded in spades, with support slots for international outfit and key musical inspiration …And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead (US), as well as interstate acts including An Horse, Violent Soho, Emperors and DZ Deathrays, thanks to their ever-convincing live shows.

With the release of their debut double-a side single ‘21snakes&ladders’ in late 2011, Sincerely, Grizzly received strong community and national radio support (the former thanks to Amrap’s AirIt), were selected to play the Adelaide Fringe opening night party as a part of the FUSE Festival and toured both Perth and Melbourne.

On October 5, 2012, the band released their sophomore EP, ‘Doom and Gloom’ on 10” vinyl and digitally, via iTunes. In support of the release, Sincerely, Grizzly embarked on their first national tour. Spanning the entirety of September, they played fourteen shows, six of them supporting The Medics on their ‘Foundations’ tour, two showcasing at BIGSOUND Live and the remainder playing their own headline ‘Doom and Gloom’ east coast shows.

Three months on from its release, ‘Doom and Gloom’ has received high praise, featured by iTunes as a part of their New Australian Music initiative and again supported by AirIt. ‘Isaac’, the EP’s first single, was selected by Zan Rowe as her ‘Catch of the Day’ and subsequently received airplay on Triple J, while the corresponding film clip was premiered by Dom Alessio on the Home and Hosed blog. The band has since gone on to win the Triple J Unearthed competition to open Laneway Festival in Adelaide, as well as being added to the Big Day Out roster.

Sincerely,

Grizzly

Listen to those gnarly guitar chords... so dissonant! Dissonance rules, just like this song.

Love this new tune guys, really great minimalism but with heart and melody and a tidy breakdown all contained within a snappy song.

this song isn't reinventing the wheel, but it's a solid, fun, Cloud Nothings-esque, balls out rock track, and a corker live!

A solid bit of math rock right here. Excellent band to see live too.
