The Waiting Game

Quietly working away on her piano in a warehouse in Sydney’s Lilyfield Amanda Baker has been playing the waiting game….
Having recently written a track for the Australian film ‘The Waiting City’ and currently in the studio with Chris Townend (Silverchair, Portishead & Violent Femmes to his credit…) This girl has been doing anything but sitting still.
From landing in Sydney in 2005, to recording her debut album, 2 EP’s, a single and a couple of music videos…this girl is not waiting around for anyone.
Amanda has been carving out her own niche’ in the Australian music scene, quietly honing her song-writing, building her live show with tours and letting every else catch up.
Along the way she has won awards both nationally and internationally and gained attention of well-respected people in the industry.
Her music has always been hard to categorize, with comparisons been made to the greats like Joni Mitchell and Annie Lennox, Amanda herself likes to be described as Soul/ Rock Modern Woodstock.
“I like the classics really…you know…Fleetwood Mac, Joe Cocker, Led Zeppelin, I don’t like comparisons either and I think that reflects in my style. I can do anything really, but I realize people want to know what you’re about…and I’m about great music!
Give me a good melody and I don’t care who’s singing it. A good song is plain to the listeners ears….”
Amanda Baker will be touring nationally in late October in support of her new single ‘Must Be Something’.
