A Man Called Son is the Melbourne-based solo project of Simon J. Pearlman. Originally from Brisbane, A Man Called Son released his debut EP "Fires, Floods and Boredom" in 2006. Ranging from the British folk sounds of 'Wouldn't Like to Doubt You' to the late night balladry of 'Cool Shady Sand', the EP gained some strong radio support and reviews.

In 2007, A Man Called Son was shortlisted for the Grant Mclennan Memorial Fellowship, an oppportunity for Queensland songwriters in honour of the late Go-Between.

After relocating to Melbourne in 2008, A Man Called Son released his second EP, 'Survive in the Shallows.' Featuring the wiry, hook-laden 'Been Here Too Long' and the electronic textures of 'Sundogs', this collection marked an adventurous new turn for the artist and also garnered further positive reviews and airplay.

From here, A Man Called Son spent several months recording new material in his home studio setup. He then enlisted mixing maestro Lindsay Gravina to put the finishing touches to the songs. The result, titled 'Ruins Of Our Town', was released in November 2009. It features 11 tracks and is a fine consolidation of his songwriting strengths.

"While the obvious artists that spring to mind are The Triffids, The Go-Betweens and The Church, now we can add A Man Called Son to this impressive list...a serene indie pop record perfect for a balmy summer night."
(The Dwarf, January 2010)

In 2010, A Man Called Son pulled together a talented local lineup for live performances. They are: Daniel Kahn (Keys/Guitar/Brass), Ryan Lamb (Bass) and Richard Hunt (Drums/Percussion).

Nice little track that really has the listener tapping their foot. Mellow pop sounds coming through well on this one.

Travis like intro, vocals need to be brought up slighty in the mix. Then again there a little loud in the chorus. You need a decent mix engineer. ...
