The Jay Hoad Band is an extremely high energy six piece band... with a beautiful belly dancer. Jay's compositions attempt to combine every style of music on the planet with unique blends of instrumentation and unstoppable grooves. Jay plays up to fifteen instruments throughout his shows including Acoustic Bass, Electric Bass, Didjeridoo, Weissenborn Lap Steel, Lap Steel Guitar, 12-string Guitar, Ocarina and many more. The rest of the band line up consists of Drums, Percussion, Trumpet, Sax and Guitar. In 2008 Hoad had a grueling touring schedule in North America and Australia performing over 300 shows with the band and as a soloist.

Born in Fiji, this Aussie multi-instrumentalist grew up in South Australia and at age 12 was accepted into the special music program at Brighton High School. At age 16 Jay began pursuing his university degree in Jazz, majoring on the acoustic bass.

Jay left Australia in January 2004 to tour the US/Europe with the Australian Jazz Quartet and has since played Acoustic and Electric bass with Dionne Warwick, the Temptations, the Drifters, the Platters, Blood Sweat and Tears among others. Jay has also toured Europe, the Caribbean, North America and South East Asia as a solo artist.

Highlights of the 2008 USA tour included headlining the Dewey Jam Festival, touring with Carbon Leaf and Badfish on their National Tours, Bob Marley Music Fest in Wilmington, Delaware Music Festival, DC Mall performance in Washington DC, Friendship Festival Maryland, Federal Hill Music Festival Baltimore, Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival Delaware, 8 x 10 Club in Baltimore and Bowery Poetry Club in NYC.

In 2009 the Jay Hoad Band is releasing their debut album "Warmth in the White". The album was written whilst on tour in Australia late 2007 and recorded in the USA in 2008. The album was mastered by Tim Starnes ('Lord of the Rings' sound producer) and included 14 musicians from 6 countries.

This indie band has been said to have “an eclectic sound of global proportions”. (Maryland News Journal, USA)
