abrasive hard Techno as H.P.S?, Gavan Griffin has been performing live and releasing his wares for the last 11
years .supporting some of the biggest names in international techno, and some of Australia's best underground
parties.
Names such as Carl Cox, Chris Liebing, Speedy J, Chris Liberator , D.A.V.E the drummer, Aphex Twin and Luke
Vibert, Ben Sims, DJ misjah, Mike Humphries and the Space DJz . At events such as the Big Day Out, Transmission, Swarm (resident for 7 years),
Hardware, Melbourne Techno Collective, Freaky loops, Earth dance and many many others.
Coming from a very ingrained musical background. Having both parents actively involved in a touring band .his
mother was a lead singer and father a bass player. his grandmother was a big band conductor and all round musical
genius. His father, later getting involved with P.A and studio electronics, inspired Gavan to be interested in all things
pro audio.
Gavan has released 3 solo live mix albums under H.P.S? ‘Year of the Filter’ in 1999, ‘Geosynthetic’ in 2001 and
‘Fuckin’ Techno’ in 2004. H.P.S? appears on Enigma Records 3 volume compilations http://
www.enigmarecords.com.au . finally on a collaborative c.d. called Creatures of Habit with DJ Vic ..
in the works are remixes and collaborative efforts with DJ Typhonic under the Hops moniker.Exploring the
sounds of Drum and Bass , abstract Hip Hop , and non mainstream breakbeat .
Having his background was a precursor to a career in live music and this is where Gavan’s heart lies.
his live shows are geared towards the dance floor . always willing to rock a crowd with heavy beats and growling
bass lines .
