Station 80 formed in 2005 with its roots dating back to David and Derrin being neighbours and having the occasional jam sessions. Along with a friend of David’s, the duo played in the band The Persuasion, playing two gigs and a few acoustic ‘open mic’ nights before they decided to call it quits. The idea of a band went on hiatus for a couple of years, though David and Derrin still jammed every week. Towards the end of 2004 they both agreed to make another attempt at an original band. After auditioning a handful of bass and guitar players Andrew was the first to join the duo at the beginning of 2005. Feeling that there was an element missing, the band searched for a guitarist who could also do backing vocals. Instead they found Vanessa Nowrojee, a young singer/songwriter, who could also play some guitar.
