October 2007
I drove an hour south in my beat-up car
Then played twenty songs on my fancy guitar
For my lovely musical friend
We made some lunch
And listened
We chose six lucky tunes to make an EP
(it had been a long time coming)
The next day we started playing
And creating, and chatting and laughing
We talked about music and singing and love and life
And then I set off home feeling satisfied and inspired
But my banger of a beat-up car had different ideas
Something snapped! There was smoke! Ye gads!
Something snapped and sent me back to my musical friend
So I had dinner with him and his beautiful wife
And we ate a curry of lychees and duck (I drank beer lamenting my beat-up car)
And we chatted some more
.. the journey had begun..

November 2009
So two years have gone by
Many cups of tea have been drunk
Many laughs have been had
Many poached eggs have been enjoyed (cooked by Syd)
Six songs became eight
Then ten
Now finally… eleven
The tunes have gone from being an EP for me
To a collaboration
betwixt us
And we couldn’t be happier
I have gone from wondering what a song could be
To recognising it’s potential
And being open to changes and ideas
(including kazoo solos…)
and learning to trust someone else’s instincts
and being very happy
because they are pretty much in-sync with mine
I have a new friend
& a new appreciation and understanding of music & structure & recording
We have created an album that is timeless
And moves across genres
And we couldn’t be happier
And the Night is Complete…

Originally from NZ, Angeline has been performing for over 25 years; in musicals, in television, in film & as a musician on stages from The Basement in Sydney to the East Coast Blues & Roots festival in Byron Bay. The past four years have seen her become a mama, write a book of poetry, do some graphic design, paint and have far too much fun creating the new album with Syd Green. She also reveled in being able to crank up the stereo for her drive down the coast every couple of months.


Syd has played drums with Killing Time, Mantissa, IoTA, Dirty Lucy, Gen Maynard & Mick Hart to name but a few. He has produced albums for TonksGreen, Drew Sutherland, Dominique Fraissard, Of the Red Sea & Mitch Butler. He is currently the ‘Green’ in TonksGreen with the delectable Matt Tonks, and is recording a solo album of surf drumming songs because he likes surfing and drumming. And did I mention that he makes excellent poached eggs ? (from the chickens in his backyard no less)
