Greg Walsh is a solo piano/vocalist/songwriter performing mostly blues and soul but also with many varied influences shining through. He has changed over from being a full time professional piano/vocalist doing mostly covers, to an original songs/compositions musician.
The strong yearning to do more original music has finally broken through.

October 21 2008 is the launch of his album "A Busy Street" at Dizzys Jazz Club with a full band. The CD consists of 12 songs, some with vocals, real strings, bass, drums, hammond organ, synths and guitar. Some with a more sparse sound.

He has a solid history of variety, from classically trained pianist, to band keyboardist, to solo all original synth/vocalist with self produced cassette "Duck Noises". In 1997 he won the Darebin Talent Search in the adult vocal section, and gave up the day job in 2002 for two and a half years to live off his craft. He recorded a nine song CD live "Greg Walsh Live Recording" of eight covers and one original, all with the flavour from his unique warm voice and bluesy piano playing. In 2008 he made it to the final 6 in the nab songwriting contest.

Influences include so many musicians: Debussy, Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, Jan Hammer, Kraftwork, Vince Jones. More recently influences have come from the New Orleans blues school, especially of the great piano players Dr. John and Professor Longhair.

Quotes from those who have heard him perform include: "great voice", "not often taken away like that", "nice touch", "unique voice", "smooth voice", "sexy voice", "sexy voice Oops! You know what I mean".
Comparisons include: "sounds like Ali Campbell" (lead singer of UB40), "sounds like Vince Jones", "The White Ray Charles".

The focus has been on writing more original songs and instrumentals recently. The latest song being "A Busy Street".

Goals for the future include building up even more original material, more blues songs, performing at more original music orientated venues, and spreading the word about his new album "A Busy Street"

For venues without an acoustic piano he comes complete with a Kawai MP9000 electric piano and JBL sound system.

He has performed at many venues around Melbourne.
