1929indian’s integration of new-wave and electronic aesthetics has voided them of the capacity to be definitively pigeonholed. The band’s shared desire to create an entity which doesn't adhere to any singular genre has seen them described as “really unique; combining many layers of sound to make mini masterpieces” (The Modern Collection).

Following the release of their debut EP, ‘The Dreaming’, 2012 has seen the band’s profile exponentially rise. Their first single, 'Women In Cages', attracted radio play on JJJ, FBi and countless other community radio stations across the country. This culminated in festival appearances at both Groovin The Moo & Fat As Butter, the later after winning the Triple J Unearthed competition. As well as their debut national headline tour last July/August.

1929indian’s live show is equally acclaimed; combining a refreshing sonic and visual approach with exuberant execution. “1929indian look and feel like a scale model of an arena band…bound together by a bang-on rhythm section and the Brian Moloko-like purrings of the frontman. 1929indian are intense from front to back” (The Brag).

With plans for another release in early 2013, and recent augmentations to their live show, it seems as though 1929indian are on the verge of garnering the success press and fans alike believe has been a long time coming.

A care-free mix of synths and guitar rock, reminds me of Britpop in its full-Pulp-swing. Are you sure you kids aren't actually from Manchester?
