MARCY PROSPECTS is a two-piece folk-electronic duo from Brisbane, made up of folk singer-songwriter Angharad Drake, and electronic artist, Jacob Smith. Both students of music, the two combine Angharad's floating folk melodies over twitching beats and lush samples.

As of April 2012, they have opened for artists such as Balam Acab (USA), Jensen Brewster (1/3 Seekae), and OUTERWAVES (Oh Ye Denver Birds).

Live, they perform a continuous set of their music, combining songs together with the use of ambient, eclectic samples - making each live performance unique. Of their live show:

"The arrival of Brisbane duo Marcy Prospects delivers a radical change of pace; a combination of glitchy beats and FX pad trickery beneath frontwoman Anie Drake's superb voice." - Nils Hay, Rave Magazine

"Listening to their opening track really blew me away: it seems an unlikely event that two artists with such distinct and separate musical tastes could ever collaborate in harmony ? but let me tell you they have pulled it off." - Clare Kempnich, News Unlimited

In early 2012, Marcy Prospects released their debut EP 'These Pale Skies' independently online. The EP was met with positive reviews and local media attention. Of their EP:

"Running to seven songs, this debut EP nicely captures their sound ? the marriage of two distinct aesthetics that gel wonderfully in a stuttered, melodic counterpoise." - Patrick Turner, Rave Magazine

"For what is essentially electronic music, These Pale Skies has a lush, homely feel to it that takes you away from the confusing, confronting world of synthesizers and soundscapes, and wraps you in a warm, fuzzy blanket." - Hugh Francis, The Thousands

In August 2012, the duo released their second EP, 'Contact', independently. The 5 track EP features collaborations with other Brisbane-based artists, Joshua Tuck (of Bandito Folk) and longtime friend and rapper Just D. It is available through their bandcamp site.

The vocals mesh so beautifully together, love this song! And Dom's right - super playful with the electronic beats.

Look, I really like The xx, but if they were a little more playful they'd probably sound like this great song.
