Since Newcastle/Maitland band Memorial Drive’s debut in Oct 2006 they have been hard at work and in such a short time have released their debut self- funded EP in March 2007 which led to them winning the "ABC music award" for "Best Heavy Rock band" in 2007 for the song "Opinions".
Growing in experience and confidence in April 2008 Memorial Drive also had the privelage of Playing with heavy rock pioneers "HELMET" in there home town of Newcastle.
2008 also saw Memorial Drive release its second E.P " The Morning After" and play alongside some of the heavy weights in australian original music.
Memorial Drive exist to try and connect with people through the power of music. Their music is powerful and diverse due to the emotive lyrics and vocal delivery that relay's a positive yet truthful light at the end of the tunnel scenario for everyday events we all face in life. Musically Memorial Drive focus's on playing heavy music with a rythmic intensity yet their diversity comes from the bands ability to play a heavy song that will get you moving to having those ballad/atmospheric type songs that hit that emotive chord inside us all.
For Memorial Drive whether it be reaching out and being a listeners light in a dark place or just a band that people rock out to makes the bands journey worth while. Stay safe, Memorial Drive
