Ocean Leaves is Timothy Poitras, a multi-instrumental singer-songwriter who originally hails from Canada, but is a permanent resident of Australia. Timothy plays no fewer than seven instruments on his first EP, “Always Is The Time To Make Everything,” which was independently released on January 31st. His blend of swooning chamber folk and indie pop is permeated by themes of hope, longing, anticipation, and frustration.
From Indiemunity.com: "'Skin' is easily the EP’s more folk and Indie pop rock piece, with a regular, steady beat and guitars that drive the song forward. It is with Skin that it’s clear that Poitras can really play with a melody and get a song moving, while also using meaningful subject matter, unafraid to use his voice to capture any emotion, be it sadness in the previous works, or exhilaration and thrill in 'Skin', this is the kind of song that would be wonderful to hear live anywhere.
'Edit Out' opens equally as raucously but soon enough calms and slows down for the mid section, building up to a reprise of the original jubilance. Lyrically, much like Poitras’ other pieces, there is an abundance of intention and meaning within his lyrics. A seemingly happy sounding musical accompaniment and very engaged vocal delivery masks the disturbing lyrics that seem to depict sleepless nights and nightmares; much like a poet, Poitras plays with the expectations of a listener, but still delivers nonetheless."
