Paces is the solo project of Mike Perry. Usually one half of bass/party music duo Surecut Kids, Mike began Paces as (in Mike’s words) “Quiet music that I can show my mother.”
With a nod to future-bass and trip hop, Paces’ unique sound is characterized by 808 drums, wonky pianos & harps, synths, tough bass, and chopped up vocals.
2013 sees the release of his debut EP ‘The Pact’ through Kastle’s imprint: Symbols Recordings.
Other recent achievements include being named as one of InTheMix’s top new producers to watch. His bootleg of Angels by The XX clocked up over 20000 plays on Soundcloud and peaked at number 20 on Hype Machine’s ‘Most Popular’ chart. He’s received national airplay via Triple J radio in Australia. An upcoming remix for London buzz band Mt Wolf. And a booking to support Lunice (Paces performs live on an MPC).

Let You In
rating:
4/5
One of the most adaptable producers I can see bumping beats from the Goldy. This is good loud.

Let You In

A producer who revels in making bite-sized beat music. This one has nods to past and future bass music. Solid stuff.

Let It Ride
rating:
3/5
Whether as 1/2 of Surecut Kids or as Paces, you sure know how to build strong electronic sounds. This is a dark, shuddering winner. 3.5 from me.
