All members bring their own influences and directions which is combined together to allow the band to produce intelligent, thought provoking and foot tapping music. All members have been in successful local Adelaide acts over many years. Following a long list of successful supports for interstate and local artists, Your Motive For has just released their long awaited debut full length album (March, 2012). After receiving impressive reviews the band is now getting onto what they do best: Rocking Adelaides Live Venues

Album review (DB MAGAZINE):
The first time I sat down to have a good listen to Your Motive For’s eponymous full
length album, I was immediately impressed. Midway through the opening track Come
On Baby, I was already struck by the lush soundscape they had created, incorporating a
beautifully played pedal steel guitar.
The album was recorded over a three year period between 2008 and 2010. After
listening to the album, it was worth the wait. Obviously money was always an issue for
the Your Motive For, as with the majority of independent rock bands. Despite this anchor
constantly being an issue, Your Motive For must have had an extremely strong drive
to persevere in making their songs sound the best they possible could on CD with no
noticeable compromises.
The end product is a brilliantly crafted rock album. Your Motive For use a myriad of
different sounds and tones in each song, each different tone used would have been honed
again and again until it fit perfectly. In the same vein the songs are arranged beautifully
and incorporate violins, cello, pedal steel guitar and harmonica, not to mention the
countless tones created by keyboard player Wawrick Ing. The vocals are quite prominent,
giving the listener an opportunity to hear vocalist Heath Weber’s unashamedly honest and
personal lyrics. Weber’s lyrics are written in such a way that the message is always clear,
never veering into self indulgence.
The finished product draws a lot from early 90’s rock. However, the closest comparison
I can draw in my mind is to You Am I, with intentionally smoother sounds reminiscent of
Buffalo Tom on their album ‘Let Me Come Over’.
There have been many albums that have been ruined by going too far when
incorporating other instrumentation, and not knowing when enough is enough. This
doesn’t apply at all here; the record is arranged so that everything is in its right place.
Your Motive For, with the help of Darren Thompson and a lot of other individuals
have produced an album which has no songs that drop below high standard they set for
themselves. In reality, no amount of production can make a badly written song sound
that good. Your Motive For had high quality raw material to work with. It’s clear the
band waited until they were satisfied with the sound of every second of every song before
releasing the album to the public. An exceptional album.
