Joseph Alan Crum, commonly known as Memphis Joe, (born 16 August 1962), is an American born, Australian based, Blues, Folk and Country/Gospel Singer/Songwriter/Musician. He plays (mostly personalized) guitars, and sings, usually about stuff that has happened along his journey of life.

Joe grew up in Memphis, Tennesse, with sister, Katherine Crum, Dale Crum and eldest brother Rick Crum. His father(Bobby J Crum) worked for the defense department as computer programmer. His mother (Olivia Sterline Bell) was a house wife.

Joe was always fascinated with stories by his parents about Elvis Presley with whom they attended Humes High School with in the 50's. It was inevitable that the Memphis rockabilly/blues music scene would impact Memphis Joe's life and career.

Joe was influenced by friends and peers from the 70's drug and rock music culture.

At the young and tender age of 17, Joe had a born again experience which would change his life forever and give him a new outlook on life, especially in the area of music and song writing.

Joe was profoundly influenced by Bob Dylan's first gospel album "Slow train coming" which his aunt gave him as a gift for his 18th birthday.

Joe began prefusely writing songs about his life, his faith and other stuff that impacted on his life.

Memphis Joe ventured to Australia in 1993 after becoming disillusioned with life in the United States and was seeking a new frontier. Along the way, Joe met many interesting people and one lady in particular took his interest enough to lead to marriage.

Joe met Caroline at the Crest Hotel, Brisbane at a karaoke bar.

Only a few months later they got married and a year after that welcomed Joes only child, a beautiful daughter, Sharday Olivia Crum.

Since lving in Australia, he has performed at lots of various venues including churches, prisons, schools, pubs, clubs, community halls, pretty much everywhere that the door opens.

Australian audiences love to hear his southern style of humor, music and stories, which also lead to him picking up the name Memphis Joe!

Joe recorded his first gospel album entitled "Anchor of my Soul" in Brisbane, Australia.

His second album "The Journey so Far" was recorded also in Brisbane, Australia at Jules Makk Studios.

His third album "Salvation for a Gunslinger" was recorded in Sydney, Australia at well known Australian Country artist and father of country sensation Kasey Chambers, Bill Chambers music studios. Their are also tracks on the album which Joe recorded with Doug Ford from the band "Masters Apprentices".

The album "Salvation for a Gunslinger" has had a great reception with the Australian public.

After the album was released, Joe returned to Memphis to film the video clip for the Trackermnan.

Words from Joe about making The Trackerman Music Video: It was freaking cold out there man! We were there for a week the film crew and I sleeping in our big winnebagos but that still couldn't keep us all warm! We were up at 5am every morning to start film and it was that cold I couldn't even hold the guitars for no longer than a minute.

Joe now lives on the Sunshine Coast in his ranch in Queensland, Australia, where he is still recording, writing and performing to the Australian Public.

Joe has also started up his own guitar making company, making custom made folk, blues and roots instruments.

His instruments have received quite a lot of interest from big name artists.

His guitars are called Hubcap Resinators with the main name being "Banjbro".
