** AERIAE plays The Excelsior Hotel, Surry Hills, Sydney, on January 11, 2009.
Aeriae is Sydney-based electronic composer/producer Wade Clarke. Aeriae's tracks pulse with all the addictive beat microscopy and spliced-atomic delights of avant-IDM artists such as Autechre and Retina.it, and wed these rhythms to conspicuous tonal beauty. Rich organ lines, crystal-like textures and treated White Girl voices wrap around tracks whose compass equally includes the song-like and the properly experimental.
Hold R1 is the debut album, eleven deep tracks of femtoscopic electro-funk, complex IDM beauty and addictive organ figures. The album's trajectory is one of openness, allowing it to incorporate into its Intelligent Dance Music trappings everything from the white girl gabber of Novelle Sis to the nursery rhyme catchiness of AMay, or the slow-building sonic disintegration of ten minute closer Rizdvo.
Fans of Autechre, Aphex Twin, Retina.it, Prefuse 73, The Black Dog or the UK's Warp label in general will appreciate where this music is going, as will any fan of innovative electronica.
ABOUT THE CD:
The album comes in the form of an enhanced CD including the videoclip for AMay, playable on your Mac or PC. This vibrant animation doesn't just look like it was made with eight-bit software - it was made with eight-bit software, namely Fantavision for the Apple II computer, over many months. The clip is a love letter to the aesthetics of early videogames and their futurist dreams.
Since the album's release, Aeriae has seen rotation on FBi FM and further play on JJJ, 2SER, 3RRR, LastFM, 2GLF and Rage in Australia, and on other radio and video shows internationally, including The Indie Revolution and Long Island's Live Music Media Show. Aeriae has remixed tracks by Delta Goodrem, Retina.it, Catcall and Cloudy, and is currently working on studio tracks for his second album. He is also developing a live show.

I dig the glitchy beat and can hear echoes of Warp Records acts, but this song doesn't take me on a journey like an A1 IDM track can.

nice sewer audio effects, would sound great in a game. Reminds me of the backing tracks in old mortal kombat games. nice combination of sounds!

Snappingest? :) anyway, very nice beats sitting over creepy, crawling synths. Reminds me more of ants than butterflys, although there is that flu...

Not bad. Gets a bit frustrating after a while. Great title for the track. I like nipples.
