Since itʼs inception in the Australian winter of 2005, SOBRUSION has been interpreted by some as “a rock band that blurs the lines that divide many musical genres”. “From songs that last for less than four minutes with a precise message, to twelve minute epics that paint a picture in your mind”. Sobrusion is a melting pot of four individuals with very varied musical influences, from Queen to Metallica, from Meshuggah to Muse.

Working mainly off a Progressive Rock base, Sobrusionʼs sound combines the sublimity of incredibly ranged vocals and vocal harmonies with the tough, heavy rock riffage of 7-string guitars, punctuated by soulful solos and classic rock and roll grooves. Both lyrically and musically, Sobrusion is an intellectual journey through the mind and itʼs surroundings. The resultant sound is modern yet familiar, unique yet accessible.

Owing to their “unrestricted” approach to writing music, the band has appeared on many festival bills in Australia, and has played alongside popular acts like “Thirsty Merc”, “Something for Kate”, “Bliss N Esso” and “Faker” while also managing to hold their own with alternative bands like “Mammal” and "Dead Letter Circus". Sobrusion also has, on numerous occasions shared the stage with many internationally acclaimed metal bands such as “The Beserker”, “Ackercocke”, “Black Majesty”, “Lord” and “Eyefear”.

Sobrusion is currently touring in support of their second full-length album “Maieutics” which was released in December 2009.
