Unearthed Artists We Like: Dirty York

the Wells are a five-piece Indie Rock Band that started gigging around Brisbane mid 2005. They perform original material (written by brothers Ben & Josh Eckersley) which displays great pop sensibility with big dirty smears of Blues and Country… and these boys can really sing. Their focus on vocal harmonies and catchy melodic hooks add a great depth to the band’s overall appeal, as their densely layered instrumentation enriches each song. They hail from the sleepy country-town of Lismore, NSW and slowly migrated to the city of Brisbane after they heard they still accept food stamps up here.

the Wells have played numerous live shows including supports for Something For Kate, Gaslight Radio and The Basics. They have also played at Woodford 07-08, Woodford 08-09, Greenfest 08, Brisbane’s Valley Fiesta and probably a whole bunch of other shows that I missed out on seeing as I was drunker than hell for a good few years there and don’t quite recall if I was alive or dead. Finally their new EP "Feeling Automatic" is all said and done, listen to the two lead singles, 'Little Things' and 'Feeling Automatic' and drop us a line to let us know what you think!

the Wells latest EP 'Feeling Automatic' and limited copies of our debut EP '…and now we can die happy' are available from Rocking Horse Records in Brisbane!
