Brogan Galceran, better known by his stage name Big Dumb Kid is a producer, rapper and singer from Sydney, Australia.

Setting himself apart from traditional Aussie Hip Hop trends by fusing the bright synthesizers and rich melodies of Electronic music with a care free flow and autonomous perspective of his surroundings and himself, BDK writes conscious rap songs for inquisitive listeners..

“A refreshing addition to the Australian music scene” – James O’Doherty, the AU Review.

On April 13th 2012, Big Dumb Kid released his debut album “Chocolate” a compilation of dark melodies and glitch pop rap songs. Written, produced and recorded by BDK himself, he tells his story with fantastical imagery and an introspective air that flows, thick and rich… like chocolate.

Surfacing in Sydney early 2011 Big Dumb Kid released his EP “Vanilla”, a collection of biographical tales set against a backdrop of colourful synthesisers and DIY style production.

With songs “Lost in the Chaos”, “Somebody Else” (Chocolate 2012) and “About My Dreams” and “Dumb Luck” (Vanilla 2011) getting picked up for rotation on radio stations FBi, Unearthed and Triple J, he is quickly gaining respect and recognition from the media and his peers.

“This kid’s a genius” – Dave Ruby Howe, Assistant Music Director at JJJ.

2012 has also seen the formation of Alternative Hip Hop syndicate Dead City Zens with local acts and friends Old Men of Moss Mountain, Deadbeat & Hazy and Subsketch, a collective of like minded artists looking to diversify and broaden the sound of Hip Hop emitting from Australia.

With an array of collaborations, live performances and mischief in BDK’s sights for the future, the swelling presence of his refreshing take on Hip Hop is always accumulating.

Holy shit. Aus hip hop with simple (yet amazing produced) beats? FINALLY. I love it! Keep the sound and make more!

Somebody Else
rating:  4/5
Probably my favourite tune off the BDK LP, 'Chocolate', this track just gets straight to butter with hefty raps and ridiculously on point production.

About My Dreams

You're killing me! I'm getting Charizma & Biz Markie in the verse and come chorus time I'm washed over with this startling melody that's as beautiful...
