Unearthed Artists We Like: The Middle East , Patrick James

At the tender age of twenty, most songwriters are still penning nothing more than a collection of songs about lost love and childhood romances, but Faith has something more to say; something deeper & truer.

Faith grew up in an eclectic family of six who travelled around Australia in a caravan and paid their bills by playing at pubs and clubs on weekends. In this anything but stereotypical family band, genre was never important – if it was good, they would play it. This experience saw Faith develop a great stage presence, performing with artists such as Lisa Mitchell, Dave Gleeson and Kasey Chambers.

With alternative-country influences, delicate folk tones and strong purposeful lyrics, Faith sings with conviction and kindness. There’s an air of mystery about her that draws you in and never lets go.

With the knowledge gained from a life lived in music and a collection of carefully crafted songs, Faith Lee has just released her first single, ‘Life Long Friend’, recorded by alt-country legend Bill Chambers and mixed by Mark Myers (The Middle East), which is the first release from her upcoming EP.

You've got a voice that cuts right through, Faith. In the best way too. I love how stripped back this is, with the hint of twang in your delivery too...

The right amount of twag to drive the lyrics to your ears and hit the heart. The melody soothes the soul at the same time.
