Georgia Fields is an indie-pop musician and Scrabble enthusiast based in Melbourne, Australia.

Raised by bohemian parents on an eclectic diet of Hank Williams, Tom Waits, Madonna, and The Beatles, Fields began writing her own songs at the tender age of 8.

But she didn’t pursue a career in music until 2006, when at the age of 25 she made a snap decision to quit her corporate job in London and return to Melbourne (she called in sick from Bangkok airport). Once home, Fields reconnected with childhood friend and esteemed cellist Judith Hamann, and in 2007 she independently released the EP ‘Drama on the High Seas of Emotion’.

In 2009, Georgia was introduced to ex-Things of Stone and Wood frontman Greg Arnold, and a creative partnership soon bloomed. Arnold was brought on board as producer, and Fields’ self-titled debut album was released to critical acclaim in 2010 (Popboomerang Records / MGM). Featuring lush orchestral arrangements, a Spector-esque “Wall Of Sound”, and the percussive noise of a cordless drill, ‘Georgia Fields’ was awarded Album of the Week for both Radio National and Melbourne’s Beat Magazine. The Syndey Morning Herald named her one of their ‘Next Big Things’ for 2011.

In the year following her album release, Fields toured relentlessly, performing with her 12-piece Mini-Indie-Orchestra and making appearances at The Queenscliff Music Festival, The Apollo Bay Music Festival, and NIFFTY Fashion Festival (to name a few). She also shimmied her way onto our television sets, with a knock-out performance on SBS’s cult music show RocKwiz, alongside iconic crooner Normie Rowe.

Georgia is currently working on a sophomore album, due for release in early 2013. She is also learning how to hula hoop.

Loved the bridge and chorus in this track. Strong lyrics definitly has the Joni Mitchell feel to it.

Love it! You always do your own thing and you are a clever lyricist. I saw you live once - will never forget the beauty :)
