It began in a swamp.

Well, in a Tipi in a swamp, with a telephone attached to an ironbark gum. This is not fiction. This is the cold smoking truth.

Guthrie delivers honest and distinctive foot stompin’ electric blues. Since 2008, the band’s no nonsense approach has been a breath of fresh air for a genre flooded with two piece blues bands.
Never shying away from hard work (or a long drive) Guthrie has toured relentlessly alongside some of the nation’s finest musicians. Straight off the back of playing The Falls Festival ‘10, MS Fest ‘11, The Forth Valley Blues Festival, Adventure Bay Blues and Roots and One Fine Weekend festivals Guthrie prepare for the international release of their debut self-titled long player, distributed by MGM. Songs from the album have already received national airplay on Triple J and the band made the top 25 most played blues/roots artists on Australian radio during July 2011.
Guthrie has also worked in conjunction with the ABC to produce two music videos featuring their performance at the Forth Valley Blues Festival. The videos have been promoted through ABC Open and Triple J. The video for “Last Laugh” recently picked up an award for “Best Tasmanian Music Video”.
2011 continues to be a great success with Guthrie being part of the headlining acts for the Indigo Rocks Festival in Victoria (feat .Calling All Cars and Stonefield) and consistently playing numerous quality shows with some of the nation’s finest including The Snowdroppers, Gay Paris, Brothers Grimm & The Blue Murders, The Beards and King Cannons to name but a few.

Guthrie’s notorious performance presence continues to turn heads adding to their expanding and fanatical fan base. If you insist that your music must have foot stompin’ drums, loud guitar played with a slide and a voice larger than life, then Guthrie delivers a show that is unmissable.

Brace yourselves!

Liam Guthrie - Voice, Guitars, Lap Steel
