It began in a swamp.

Well, in a Tipi in a swamp, with a telephone attached to an ironbark gum. This is not fiction. This is the cold smoking truth.

Guthrie delivers honest and distinctive foot stompin’ electric blues. Since 2008, the band’s no nonsense approach has been a breath of fresh air for a genre flooded with two piece blues bands.

Never shying away from hard work (or a long drive) Guthrie has toured relentlessly alongside some of the nation’s finest musicians and have enjoyed stand out performances at The Falls Festival, MS Fest, Mona Foma, Jackeys Marsh Forest Festival, Junction Arts Festival as well as headlining The Forth Valley Blues, Adventure Bay Blues and Roots and One Fine Weekend festivals. November 2011 saw Guthrie release it's debut self-titled long player internationally through MGM. Songs from the album have already received national airplay on Triple J and the band made the top 25 most played blues/roots artists on Australian radio during July 2011.

Guthrie's video for "Last Laugh" saw the band pick up two Tasmanian music awards in 2011 for "Best music video" and Blues/Country artist of the year", some small recognition of their strong work ethic - consistently playing numerous quality shows with some of the nations finest including The Snowdroppers, Gay Paris, Brothers Grimm & The Blue Murders, Calling All Cars, King Cannons, The Beards, Stonefield and King Cake.

2012 sees Guthrie embark on it's greatest tour to date. Teaming up with Brisbane's Transvaal Diamond Syndicate for the "Pistols at Dawn" East Coast Tour of Australia, Guthrie hit the road from Cairns to Van Diemen's Land, four months, 60+ dates, five states, one territory, money put where mouth is.

As a special surprise for the tour Guthrie will be releasing their brand new single and video for "You Just Want Blood" in March.

Guthrie will be making it's presence felt in all major capital cities on the east coast as well as a huge amount of regional touring that the band have always prided themselves on. Nowhere is safe! This marathon tour will finish up on home soil in Van Diemen's Land in June.

Guthrie’s notorious performance presence continues to turn heads adding to their expanding and fanatical fan base. If you insist that your music must have foot stompin’ drums, loud guitar played with a slide and a voice larger than life, then Guthrie delivers a show that is unmissable.

Brace yourselves!

Liam Guthrie - Voice, Guitars, Lap Steel
Luke Young - Drums, Percussion
