All things must pass. This is so for Brisbane indie pop 4 piece Montpelier who have announced they will be playing their final show together on January 14th at the Zoo. The show is a celebration of what the band and their supporters have achieved and shared over the last 2 and a half years as well as being the release of their final record titled Feed the City.

With good friends Charlie Mayfair, and Kate & Max in support, Montpelier will be launching their second EP which was recorded by ARIA nominated producer and Hall of Fame member, TimEbandit (The Church). Drummer, John Pickering, reflects on the inception of the record which began in 2009 when TimEbandit met the band at the Big Sound music conference and invited them down to his studio in Sydney for a weekend of jams. Pickering says the weekend was “like walking into a bizarre time machine with no idea of what you’re doing and all of a sudden it’s a few days later and there’s the blueprint for an album and half the tracks recorded.”

The band is again working with their favourite designer, Jefferton James, on the artwork for the record. In addition, Montpelier are releasing the film clip for their recent single, China Shop, which was directed by Byron Quandry in association with Marshmallow productions (Husky, Little Scout).

It has been an exciting and challenging journey for Montpelier. Although the future is a little unclear, the four Brisbane musicians know that the launch of their EP in January will be something extremely special to them and the people who have supported the band along the way. As singer/bassist Greg Chiapello puts it: “as a band, we play every show with passion and intensity, as it were our last. Actually doing it for real will be an emotional trip, but we are looking forward to giving all the amazing people who have supported us over the years, our fans, friends, and family, one heck of a great final show!” Montpelier will be performing songs from their upcoming EP, Feed the City, and as well diving deep into their back catalogue for a truly memorable night.
