A raspy voice mixed with acoustic rhythms and pop melodies, Sarah Bird has a track list that makes you… feel. Her up beat songs have a fun dance-ability about them that stick in your head and her ballads hit the core with honest lyrics and beautiful guitar chords.

For the past year, Sarah has been working on her latest mini album “Break or Bend” which has been recorded and produced with her fellow band member Andrew Herft. All recorded independently in Andrew’s living room, Bird believes that it is her best recording yet! The album doesn’t take on a particular story line but more so captures stand out life events: from leaving home, to losing the love her life, to mental illness and a satirical song about some bad experiences she has had with boys! “Break or Bend” is set to be released early this year, followed by a busking tour, which she plans to document via her “Go Pro” camera and post daily on her site.


Bird has been making quite a name for herself in Sydney since moving away at just 18 from her family and her hometown of Glen Innes NSW. All she knew was that music was in her bones and that to live out her dream she had to be in the big smoke. Her love for singing and writing music became a natural instinct after picking up an old guitar she discovered in the garage of her home at age 13. This 3 stringed instrument at the time beckoned a need in Sarah to create and to express her experiences as a young teenage girl. Her prolific lyrics and beautiful songs captured the hearts of her hometown and by 15 she had released her first EP.

Sarah Bird is now as ambitious as ever and her talent has not gone unnoticed. Since moving to Sydney, Sarah has won 2 National “Musicoz Awards” and just last year she was a finalist in the 2012 INTERNATIONAL song writing Competition “Unsigned Only” (ISC) and in the John Butler “Seeds” Grant. In 2011 Sarah was a nominee for the APRA Professional Development Award and was personally chosen by the Aurora channel host to be flown to Melbourne to perform live on the TV premier of "Planet unEarth".

Sarah supports herself by regularly busking at Manly Markets, Circular Quay, The Rocks, Newtown and organic markets and never fails to surprise a crowd with her accomplished guitar playing, honest voice and her crazy guitar tunings, immediately setting her apart from many other female singer songwriters. It is not just her music, but also her humble stage persona that means you cannot help but be compelled by this Bird!
