Lurking the Melbourne underground. Shoot the Sun's raucous live shows have gained them a steady following around Melbourne. Their energetic power rock is a hybrid of prog/blues that channels 70's Psychedelic Rock and the 90's Seattle scene.

The four-piece are pleased to announce the release of their second single ‘Second Hand People’.
With this release they bring feelings of wretchedness to the table, laying bare all of our foibles and exposing a thought bubble of mixed emotions.
Like waking from a deep slumber, the loping, groaning, buzzsaw guitars combined with a wall of prophetic white noise background creates a perfect storm of distorted haze and sublime melody. It’s no reinvention of the wheel but it’s a feel which smacks you in the face unapologetically. With every chord of dream-like fuzz oozing from their guitars, it gathers momentum. You lean into it and try to forge ahead but for every step forward, it forces you two steps back. Resistance is futile. Go with the chaotic flow, succumb to the sound and be swept along with all of the other emotional debris. Eamon Stewart (guitars and vocals), Ryan Dawson (drums), Alex Pedemont (guitar) and Hugh Holliday (bass) are the perpetrators. Forced under lamplight by authorities to give evidence, I’ll admit they’re a little bit psychedelic, a tad shoe-gazey and known to evoke the spirit of Floyd, Black Angels and BRMC. Call it prog, blues, grunge … even stoner rock. Shoot The Sun’s 2012 debut single The Unbearable Brightness of Seeing, showed that the band had a commitment to quality, intelligent psych-rock. ‘Second Hand People’ only serves to reinforce the rumors. It’s the sound of a band seeking to grow and broaden their musical horizons. ‘Second Hand People’ will move your mind as much as it will shake your shit.

"Shoot The Sun have been causing a stir south of the border, their psychedelic twist on grunge finding an immediate home in the venues of Melbourne. Now, it's Queensland's turn to hear what all the fuss is about when they head north for a special show. Get a taste o fthe action when they perform Saturdy 17th November at Ric's Bar. And in case you needed any more convincing, you'll get a free USB featuring single previews just by heading along - sweet!" - Time Off Magazine
