WAM Song of the Year Winner 2010 in TWO categories for her tunes 'Burning' and 'Rag Doll', both off her indepenedent full length release 'Burning'.

Simone Keane grew up on Australia's east coast where she dabbled in musical theatre. One day she picked up her dusty guitar and, instead of playing the cover tunes which her music teacher taught her, penned a song. This was the beginning of a new obsession which took Keane on a lyrical journey all the way to Western Australia where pubs don't have poker machines and the live music scene is vibing. She met a bunch of musos who liked her catchy, soul-stirring tunes. She then met her co-producer Lez Karksi (Midnight Oil, the Triffids,Bondi Cigars, Yothu Yindi, Nick Cave) in Albany on WA's south coast. From there Keane released her debut EP 'Moon Tunes' in 2007. In Aug 2010, Keane and Karski produced Keane's full length album 'Burning' which received instant recognition with WAM (West Australian Music Industry) announcing Keane a finalist in five categories for the WAM Song of the Year 2010. For this, Keane made headlines on the evening news - it is rare for a regional based artist to feature so prolifically in this prestigious song writing competition. Keane later won TWO of these categories. WAM has launched many a well-known artist into the bigger arena including Abbe May and Eskimo Joe.

Keane's musical influences include Mazzy Star, Rickie Lee Jones, Eva Cassidy and old jazz/blues greats Sarah Vaughan and Billy Holiday.

In 2007, workshopped and jammed with Ash Grunwald at a musicians residency (Recipe for Jam) in Albany WA. Successful auditionees took part in a week of workshops and jams with high profile Australian musicians. Meeting Ash inspired Keane to pursue her dream of being an independent artist. She is now well on her way with independent music stores selling out of 'Burning' within the first few weeks of its release.

Keane's music is timeless. It has a deep, lyrical beauty that literally leaves listeners spell-bound. Keane has been known to tranform a rowdy pub into a sanctuary of lilting lullabies and rich, rootsy ballads.

If you enjoy music that moves the soul, sets you free and leave you wanting more, you will love Simone Keane.
