“...the girls play breezy, dreamy pop tunes with the kind of melodies that drill themselves in to your head and set up camp for weeks” David Craddock, X-Press

Simone and Girlfunkle launched their debut self-titled EP in August 2010 to a sell-out crowd in Perth. This short collection of stripped back simple folk melodies and delicate intimate harmonies proved the band to be a major contender in the Perth local scene with the EP receiving high praise and regular rotation on RTR FM as well as habitually disappearing off the shelves in local music shops.

On the strength of their release they went on to expand with a new pop sound new members and some great supports and performances including; The Bedroom Philosopher, Holly Throsby, a live ABC radio performance with ‘Russ on the Bus’, a live television cross at the SBS Ethnic Business Awards (where they met the ambassador for Syria – he was thoroughly charming). They were showcasing artists at the One Movement 2010, and played at the Beaufort St., In the Pines and Northbridge Festivals. They even performed at Kenny Rogers VIP party at the country club and an instore with Gurrumul.

In May 2011, they were nominated for West Australian industry awards in the “Best commercial Pop Act”, "Best Bass Player" and "Best Female Vocalist" categories, and since have gone from strength to strength burying themselves deeply into the recording process preparing for their second release.

Their first single from their forthcoming EP, “Heart Goes Pitter Patter,” released in February 2011, got spins on Triple J Home and Hosed, was featured on Triple R's Class of 2011 and landed them spots on the coveted Wami showcase and CD. "Heart Goes Pitter Patter" has been featured on MTV's "Awkward" and popular Australian show "Winners and Losers", the band are wrapped it's their favourite secret pleasure.

After a stunning performance at the Perth Fringe Festival, Simone and Girlfunkle's new single "Throw" is destined to be released in May 2012 followed by a new album later in the year. Watch this space!
