With an intimate sound blending indie folk and pop rock, Lydia Phillips is an Australian singer/songwriter emerging as a dynamic force.

Lydia writes and performs with a seductive honesty and energy that has captivated eclectic crowds. Indeed, her live shows are known to draw the masses. As Melbourne’s renowned inner-city club Manchester Lane has found, ‘SHE PACKS THEM IN!’ (Manchester Lane entertainment guide).

Since beginning her solo performances in Port Fairy, Western Victoria as a 17-year old, Lydia has played at music festivals, jazz clubs, lounges, country races and concert halls around Australia and has frequently appeared with guitarist Tim O’Donnell. She performed solo in New Jersey USA in 2005.

Lydia was born in Melbourne, Australia and grew up surrounded by music. She has studied classical piano for 16 years and acoustic guitar for eight years. She began guitar as an accompaniment for her first original songs and has since incorporated piano, cello, electric guitar, bass and drums into her sound.

Now 22 years old, Lydia has worked with a talented group of musicians - Tim O’Donnell (from ‘Thin Man’ and ‘The Disappointments’), Jeremy Staples (from ‘Funk The Distance’ and ‘Mojo Rising’), Jono Correa and Madeleine Coulter - to produce her independent EP Hibiscus January.
