Marshall & The Fro........ "Infectious as Hell" - Sam Fell, RHYTHMS MAGAZINE

After 200 performances in 2008 alone, it's fair to say Byron Bay/Northern NSW-based Rock/alternative blues outfit Marshall & the Fro are one of Australia's hardest working bands!!! From humble beginnings in Byron Bay, Marshall and the Fro are now in demand nationally and internationally. Marshall & the fro have performed at: The East Coast Blues & Roots Festival 07, 08, Festival of the Sun 07, Queenscliff Music Festival 07 & 08, Apollo Bay Music festival 08, Narooma Southern Blues & Rockabilly Festival 08, Peats Ridge Festival, Gympie Muster 08, Loud Festival 08, The Quiksilver Pro & Woodford Folk Festival 08/09. They have shared the bill some of the biggest names Including: Ben Harper, Wolf Mother, The Living End, Joss Stone, Buddy Guy, Blue King Brown, The Cat Empire, The Herd, Jeff Lang, Jackson Jackson, Josh Pyke, Gomez, CW Stoneking, Mia Dyson, Clare Bowditch, Gotye, Xavier Rudd, Ash Grunwald and Dallas Frasca to name a few.

Comprised of Marshall OKell on Vocals, Guitar, Slide guitar and percussion, Newest menber Tracy Stephens on Bass (Tracy Bassy) and Jacob Mann (Poodle) on Drums, Marshall & the fro really are a refreshing modern Face generating a Progressive rock/roots Based musical energy. Their music feels so natural and so comfortable it's like slipping into your favorite pair of thongs heading to a festival only to find that you’re slamming them together in the air chanting an OCCA anthem “I got my thongs on”!! The band embraces its Australian heritage and what better icon than the humble double plugger!!!

"Love that slide playing." -- Chris Scaddan, Triple J “A rip-roaring blues set that went off." -- Richard Porteous, National ABC Radio. “A stunning display of musicianship from the tight-knit trio.” -- Candie, Courier Mail, Brisbane “That’s the best music I’ve heard in years” – Bill Chambers

We then see a stack of recent achievements and awards including: • Winners of the Album of the Year and Best Blues and Roots artist at the NCEIA Dolphin Awards 2008. • No 1 Australian Roots charts on MySpace for over 12 months. • Regular JJJ air play, overseas airplay in: Europe, Japan, Canada and the US. • Finalist in Music Oz Awards 07 & 08. • Grand Finalist in Australian Alternative Independent Film Awards (Sunscreen). • Two songs included in the new ABC series 'East of Everything'. • Two songs featured with Billabong & Surfing Life at the Teahupoo surfing world series in Tahiti. • A recently signed distribution deal in Japan with P-Vine Records. The band has received real industry recognition; Marshall & the Fro are creating legitimate and deserved credibility within the Australian music industry!!! Having completed successful Australian Tours they will be heading back on the road 2009 road testing new tracks for a long anticipated 2nd album, one not to be missed!!!!!!!
