Zerafina is Australian Soul Music
“...brimming with soul and a dash of suitable sultry sexiness” (Clem Bastow, Inpress) Zerafina is the leader in a new wave of Australian Soul. Inspired by the vocals of Renee Geyer and Ross Wilson, and the intelligent songwriting of Paul Kelly and Neil Finn, Zerafina brings a fresh voice to Australian songwriting. Her debut album has been described by listeners as a cross between Portishead, and Emmy Lou Harris; which makes sense considering the contemporary approach to her warm and earthy sound.

The path to music wasn’t easy for Zerafina. She spent time studying literature and creative writing to try to get a ‘real job.’ Then she was swept away by contemporary dance for a few years before realizing that songwriting and performing have always been her true calling.

“...there is a kind of poetic honesty on display in the lyric department,” Daniel Z Beat Magazine. Zerafina has been making a mark on the Australian music scene. Her single, “Summer Love Song” seduced audiences following national and local radio play. Her earthy rock sound has proved popular with festival audiences both here and on her East Coast tours. After the success of their single “Summer Love Song,” the band was keen to get into the studio again. Six songs are already recorded for the album, and Zerafina has been taking time off from gigging to immerse herself in the songwriting process.
