Tom Dickins loves music without understanding it at all.

He writes from the heart, and sings from the soul, but only recently begun to understand that other people may actually be able to read their own experiences into the words he writes and sings.

In 2007 he travelled from Wagga Wagga (old hometown) to Thailand, Cambodia, South Korea, Japan, USA, England, Scotland and Ireland and slowly discovered that other people did indeed want to listen.

At the culmination of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival he sang a duet with Amanda Palmer, of the Dresden Dolls, a career high, a personal little dream of singing with an idol... and forgot the lyrics. In the moment of recovery after panic he realised: "I can do this... I want to do this..."

Amanda later visited Tom in his new hometown of Ballarat, Victoria, and had this to say about his music:

"Tom Dickins is one of those rare songwriters who delivers his smart Rufus-Meets-Fiona ballads directly from the heart, with the velvety yet bittersweet voice of an angel, only recently fallen from grace"
