Formed in 2010 amongst the suburbs of Fremantle, BKV came together through a shared appreciation of heavy music and a drive to create an original style and sound that accurately reflected the members own musical tastes, personalities and ambition. Getting stuck straight into songwriting and gigging, the band has built a modest following through strong, energetic live performances throughout Fremantle and Perth; fusing a heavy driving groove with elements of metal, punk and progressive rock. The current lineup finally settled early in 2011 after the departure of the original drummer, and BKV released their debut CD in October of 2011, following a smashing win at the Perth leg of Global Battle of the Bands. Late 2011 saw BKV return to the stage for two festival slots after a short hiatus to focus on writing and evolving some new material, staying true to the bands ethos of always working to encompass a wider range of influences and diversity of sound into their songwriting and progression. 2012 is another big year for the band as they further cement their place in Perth’s heavy music scene. Fresh from the studio with their second EP due out late 2012, the band are currently very excited at the prospect of capturing a wider audience with their new material and launching and touring the new EP toward the end of the year. Stay tuned…
