Riot In Toytown
In keeping with their name, Jekhyl are a band with kind of a split personality. Never one to take the conventional road, this Melbourne quartet possess the grit, spit and attitude of raw, unbridled rock in their sound, but temper it beautifully with the raunchy groove of funk and reggae, quieter acoustic moments and some more technical and progressive elements thrown in for good measure.
Putting themselves together in mid 2011, the band's current lineup came together quickly and easily, which allowed them to record a high quality, four track demo within a short timeframe. Since then, they haven't looked back, gigging furiously with the likes of Kisschasy, Electric Mary, Circles and the heavy weight Twelve foot ninja on their silent machine tour, making the grand final of multiple Melbourne band comps and generally getting themselves ready for an assault on the world.
The Jekhyl live show is pure energy from start to finish. The band members put 110% into their show, and have an attitude of putting the entertaining of a crowd first. This is the type of band that isn't happy unless they've given their audience a rollicking good time and sent each and every one of them home with a massive smile on their lips.
They are also absolutely dedicated to continuous improvement, in every facet of their presentation. Their live show, songcraft, individual musicianship and their recorded sound.
The future looks bright for this happily schizophrenic Melbourne band, so don't be surprised to see them on the national and international pro touring circuit in the not too distant future.
