Busted Onions have been developing a loyal following in and around inner city Melbourne over the last 3 years, winning over audiences with their unique blend of energetic rhythm and blues, roots and soul music.

After starting life as a trio, the current 7 piece outfit now consists of the brothers Rodd, Tom (bass), Matt (lead guitar and vocals) and Jim (vocals and percussion) with Matt Baulch (flute and saxophone), Nick Adams (drums), Alistair Parsons (trombone) and Jim Mead (vocals, harp and acoustic guitar) completing the line up.

Nick Adams, Matt Baulch and Matt Rodd had previously written and performed together in local R'n'B/Jazz outfit Moroffski, with these styles influencing the sound and direction of their newest incarnation.

Late November 2006 saw the band enter Joe Camillieri’s Woodstock Studio in East St Kilda to record an album which reflects the roots, blues, soul and funk influences of its members, with a pinch of country flavour thrown into the mix for good measure.

The record was mixed and mastered by Robin Mai (John Butler Trio, “Sunset over Sea”) and the band was fortunate enough to be joined in the studio by a trio of exceptional local Melbourne musicians including Hammond organ specialist Tim Neal (Paul Williamson’s Hammond Organ Combo), trombonist Wally Malone (Trojan Horns/Radio Thieves) and Filipe Cornejo (Carlito's Way), on Latin percussion.

With their special guests, the band produced a smooth, 10 track album in a little more than a week, laden with flowing rhythms, sticky grooves and funky soul. The majority of the tracks were recorded live in the studio with minimal overdubs in order to capture the raw energy and rhythmic vibe of the band’s live performance.
