McDonald College became School of Rock for the afternoon and we were there to capture it all.

Along with becoming the legends of your high school, we'll fly the winning band to Sydney and re-record your track with our brilliant triple j music engineers. You'll be played on triple j, featured on triplej tv and splashed across the pages of jmag.

Something With Numbers AND your school wins too!
We'll bring punk band 'Something With Numbers' to your school for a super exclusive lunchtime concert! These guys have have just returned from New York where they've been recording a brand new album. They've played with Grinspoon, Silverchair and Powderfinger and if they come to your school you'll get to open the show!

FAQs

Do we all have to go to the same high school?
No. 50% or more of your band must be from the same school. The rest can be from other schools or not in school at all. If you are a duo, you must both be from the same school. If you have 3 members, 2 must be from the same school. If you have 4 members, 2 must be from the same school. If you have 5 members, 3 must be from the same school...and so on.

What do you mean by high school?
Year 7 - Year 12

I go to TAFE, can I still enter?
Unless you have over 50% of your band in high school (this does not include TAFE) you cannot enter.

I'm in primary school, can I still enter?
Unless you have over 50% of your band in high school (this does not include primary school) you cannot enter.

Our best song is a Nirvana cover. Can we submit that?
No. You must submit an original track.

Do I really have to get my principal's signature?
As part of this prize involves triple j putting on a concert in your high school it's important we get a signature from either your principal or another school authority.
